Maddy and John’s Rehoboth Beach Country Club wedding went as perfectly as one could hope. Great weather for a November wedding in Rehoboth beach, a sparkler exit with no injuries, and the newlyweds sharing their love story with their family and friends. What more could you ask for?
Before John became a firefighter and Maddy started her career as an event planner at Marriott, they were a bouncer and a bartender at Looney’s Pub. The pub is where their restaurant meet-cute kicked off their love story that’s been going strong for 4 years. John planned a romantic proposal while ice skating in DC with their parents hiding and watching from above. After meeting up with their parents, there was still one more surprise. They then went back to Maddy’s parent’s home where they had a surprise engagement party with 85 friends and family!
It was stunning! To complement the gorgeous views, we had a very casual, blue coastal grandmother feel when it came to the decor. Maddy wanted blue because John is colorblind and blue is the only color he can see. How sweet! There were many details and decor that carried the blue and white theme throughout the day. The large bridal party wore different shades and patterns of blue and, of course, the florals were blue and white. I really loved the color scheme and overall vibe Maddy and John went with for their big day.
It was sunny with temperatures in the upper 70s, which made our processional song of “Here Comes The Sun” very fitting! The venue was overlooking the water, perfect for a ceremony with a view. The guests then enjoyed cocktails indoors and outdoors on the deck before heading inside for the reception. It was such a great Delaware wedding venue for the laid back, fun atmosphere they wanted to have for their wedding.
Before dinner, Maddy gave her bridal bouquet to her mother. This is a newer tradition instead of the traditional bouquet toss allowing the bride to express her love and gratitude to her mother. This creates such a memorable moment between a mother and daughter! Then, after the parent dances and welcome toast were done, we had multiple dinner stations open for guests to grab food and mingle while the band started playing. This kept things casual, just like they wanted. No toasts, no assigned tables/seating, just keeping it fun and a big dance party for the remainder of the night.
As things wrapped up, we started to set up for the sparkler exit. With every sparkler exit, it’s a little nerve wracking – drunk people and fire aren’t the best combination. Since the groom is a firefighter, many of the guests said, “no really, it’s okay. I’m a firefighter!” Honestly, that still didn’t put my mind at ease, but we got through it unscathed so we’ll call it a win!
