There are so many amazing wedding venues in DC and Virginia that we’ve had the pleasure of having weddings at. Even so, there are a few dream wedding venues around here that we’d love to check off our list. Each of our fabulous wedding planners picked their top dream wedding venue to share, so if you’re looking for ideas, we’re here to help!
Mallory’s pick – The Clifton
Tucked away from the city of Charlottesville and surrounded by nature, this venue has historic charm with modern sophistication. It’s the perfect venue for a couple that wants a traditional wedding, but with a twist. If you’re having an extravagant celebration or an intimate gathering, The Clifton has you covered with the most beautiful spaces. Everything can take place at this venue, from ceremony to reception, with a beautiful sailcloth tent and on-site catering. Also, with accommodations for up to 40 people, The Clifton Inn offers the intimacy of small inns and the luxury of world-class hotels. The Clifton has some of the most gorgeous, natural sites you will ever see. Perfect for all of those newlywed photo ops and a wedding you truly won’t forget!
Alexa’s pick – The Wharf Dockmaster Building
If a picturesque event venue on the water is what you’re looking for, it’s pretty hard to beat the Dockmaster’s Building at the District Wharf! Perched at the end of District Pier, this glass-wrapped building provides 270-degree views of the Washington Channel. You and your guests won’t be able to miss the amazing views of DC through the floor to ceiling glass windows and on the wrap around balcony with canopy overhang! Not only do you have both indoor and outdoor space perfect for a dual space with your cocktail hour and reception, but this venue is a blank canvas. You have the ability to design your dream wedding and truly make it your own space in the Dockmaster Building. What’s not to love?!
Leigh’s pick – The National Air & Space Museum (either on the Mall or at Udvar-Hazy)
It’s easy to take for granted the world class museums and exhibitions we have on our doorstep being in DC. Since museums are my jam, the National Air & Space Museum is definitely a dream wedding venue in DC for me!
The spaces themselves are so versatile. Whether you’re a go-for-it-all, over-the-top couple or more minimalist in style, these spaces can match anything. The museum on the Mall just underwent a multi-billion dollar restoration and launched new exhibits, which your guests will have after-hours exclusive access to. Talk about built-in entertainment! Many of our couples want a traditional church ceremony followed by a more modern reception, and both locations, on the Mall and Udvar-Hazy, are perfect for that. Both locations also have many different areas to choose from that can fit any sized crowd and keep the party moving all night. Whether it’s a ceremony among the planets, cocktail hour in the Rocket Gallery, or a reception beneath the Columbia Space Shuttle, you and your guests will always have something unique and fun to remember!
