We love this DC wedding venue year round, but there is something extra special about a winter wedding at The Mayflower Hotel. Kathleena & Eyal described their dream wedding as elegant, romantic, and glamorous, and this venue in December really delivers! They line the Grand Foyer with Christmas trees and lights, and it was the perfect place for this winter wedding.
Kathleena & Eyal have the cutest story ever! Their dads have been close friends for over 2 decades. While it took 20ish years for these lovebirds to meet, they finally met at a football game and have been together ever since. They share a love of food and a late night grocery run on a Friday night.
Family is super important to them, and they included them in the festivities. Eyal’s grandmother played the piano during the ceremony processional, and Kathleena’s cousin performed the ceremony. They made sure to include those who couldn’t join them as well through a locket on Kathleena’s bridal bouquet. Her dad also had cufflinks with a photo of the two of them together which was so sweet!
The day went off without a hitch except for one small (but funny!) blunder. After we did the reception reveal, Kathleena noticed that the sprig of rosemary wasn’t on the place setting. The bunches of herbs were left in the suite fridge, so we had to run upstairs to get them. Then it was all hands on deck to drop rosemary on 200 napkins in a matter of minutes before opening doors. In their wedding photos you can see some reception detail photos without them and then they magically appear!
More love was shown at the reception starting with the shared welcome toast from both Kathleena & Eyal’s dads. Their close friendship made this such a special moment. Later, the groomsmen busted out the hockey jerseys that Eyal gifted them earlier in the day. Eyal is a die-hard Capitals fan and plays hockey himself, so custom jerseys were the perfect gift for his guys.
This winter wedding at The Mayflower Hotel was just another example of a beautiful wedding at a top notch DC wedding venue. If you’d like help planning your wedding at this gorgeous venue, reach out. We have the experience and knowledge to bring your dream Mayflower wedding to life!
