Ali and Patrick’s winter wedding in Georgia was the perfect celebration of love, family, and a whole lot of fun. It was extra special for me, getting to wear so many hats – planner, guest, and proud sister – all in one unforgettable day at Foxhall Resort in Douglasville, GA.
Their love story actually started way back when they were just 15 years old. It was the classic enemies to lovers! High school rivals with a few innocent flirts here and there, they reconnected almost a decade later. In December 2019, Patrick spotted Ali on a friend’s Instagram story at a local hometown bar, said hi, and a small conversation turned into a big love story. A few dates between Virginia and Tennessee, a pandemic, an engagement three years later turned into starting a lifetime together just shy of their 5 year anniversary.
They wanted their guests to experience Georgia, so Foxhall Resort was an easy choice when it came to their venue. Foxhall Resort delivered with beautiful suites, tons of activities, and the most picturesque barn for the ceremony and reception all in one place.
One of the highlights of the weekend was definitely the Dinks and Drinks pickleball tournament on Friday! In true competitive family spirit, we gathered for a fun tournament with perfect weather, plenty of drinks, and lots of laughs. It was the best way to kick off the celebrations and spend time together before the big day.
The wedding day itself was a bit of a balancing act for me. I had to handle the logistics behind the scenes, looking polished with full hair, makeup, and a gown, and being present with my family all at once! There was a hard balance of wanting to stay in control, but also let loose and enjoy my time with everyone. But every second was worth it.
The ceremony was incredibly touching. Hearing their vows and my older brother’s best man toast had me in tears (happy ones, of course). Watching my mom share her mother-son dance with Patrick and seeing my grandpa brighten up the dance floor with his light up sunglasses are memories I’ll cherish forever. Plus, my kids got a front row seat to what I do for a living! They even helped out, passing out dance floor props during the reception!
From the Romo bet slips and playing cards guest book to the espresso coffee cart, O’Brien ribbons tied to the water glasses, and personalized notes at each guest’s place setting, every touch showed their thoughtfulness and competitive spirit.
And, of course, what’s a wedding without a little unexpected excitement? During dinner, the fire alarm went off. There was no fire, thankfully, but we’re still not exactly sure what happened. Rumor has it that the cause could have to do with the matchbook favors and one of my kids being in the bathroom at the time. Definitely suspicious!
The high energy dance floor, the epic after party with a DJ and donuts, and the joy of gaining a new sister made this winter wedding in Georgia one I’ll never forget.
Ali & Patrick, seeing you so happy on your wedding day filled me with so much pride and gratitude. Your love for each other is inspiring, and I’m so excited to see it continue to grow stronger every day. Congratulations again!
