I'm Mallory, a wedding planner based in Charlottesville, VA With a passion for weddings and an eye for details, I help create a personalized and seamless experience for you and your guests.

If you’re dreaming of a Virginia mountain wedding venue that feels private, romantic, and effortlessly elevated, let me introduce you to Pharsalia.
Tucked away in Tyro, Virginia — just outside of Charlottesville and Lynchburg — Pharsalia is a family-owned flower farm and private estate originally built in 1814. Constructed by Major Thomas Massie as a wedding gift for his son, which feels incredibly fitting considering what this property is today!
Nestled into the Blue Ridge landscape, this estate is giving you sweeping mountain views and orchard backdrops, but it still feels secluded and deeply personal. They host only one wedding per weekend with a full Friday–Sunday rental. This creates a sense of privacy and exclusivity that’s hard to replicate elsewhere.
Pharsalia offers multiple ceremony locations throughout the property, each with its own distinct perspective of the surrounding mountains and farmland.
Whether you envision exchanging vows framed by rolling orchard rows or with panoramic Blue Ridge views behind you, this Virginia mountain wedding venue gives you options.
The landscape does so much of the heavy lifting that you don’t need to over-design. And because Pharsalia is a working flower farm, couples have the opportunity to collaborate with a professional team to incorporate seasonal blooms grown right on the property.

Previously a sailcloth tent, the space has been renovated into a permanent structure that seats up to 240 guests. It maintains that open, airy feel while providing the security and structure couples want.
Farm tables and wooden benches are included, meaning you don’t have to worry about rentals in that regard.
While there aren’t large hotel blocks immediately on site, the scenic drive to Pharsalia is absolutely worth it. (The closest hotels are in Charlottesville or Lynchburg, so not far!)
This Virginia mountain wedding venue provides ample parking for both cars and buses, and your rental includes a parking attendant — which is a huge plus for guest flow and logistics.

It’s perfect for couples dreaming of a Virginia mountain wedding venue that blends garden romance with Blue Ridge views and countryside privacy.
And from a design perspective? The space allows you to personalize your celebration while staying grounded in an undeniably stunning natural setting.
Also, I have to say, the idea of a pool jump exit in the warmer months here? Iconic!
If you’re searching for a Virginia mountain wedding venue that offers history, privacy, flexibility, and breathtaking views, Pharsalia deserves a spot at the top of your list.
And when you’re ready to bring that vision to life, I’d love to help you design something unforgettable!
