Carrie & Andrew had one main priority for their wedding: they wanted to maximize the amount of time they got to spend with their friends and family. We knew we could make this happen with a fun-packed wedding weekend! From the perfect venue and full weekend itinerary to their elegant mountainside wedding ceremony, this wedding weekend was definitely one for the books.
This New Yorker couple wanted a getaway destination for their wedding in the mountains. Lucky for us, something clicked when they found All The Dainty Details on Instagram. After they told me about their hiking engagement (Andrew got on one knee at the top of Mount Crested Butte in Colorado), I knew we could find them something ideal here in Virginia.
It was important to them that it was in the mountains and outdoorsy, but not like camping. We came up with the style “Mountain Elegant” and found the best venue to deliver on this vibe – Rockfish Ranch. This mountain wedding venue is nestled along the Blue Ridge Mountains and C&A were able to rent it for the entire weekend. It housed 3 cabins onsite for them to stay overnight and they were also able to hold their after party right there onsite with fire pits and s’mores. The views at Rockfish are gorgeous – from the mountains to overlooking the Rockfish River, it doesn’t get much better than that!
Carrie & Andrew wanted to have a great guest experience from start to finish. They included a Ranch Day on Friday that included a BBQ, morning barre class, train hiking, and lawn games. There was also just general relaxing in the sauna and cold plunge. A little something for everyone!
It had been raining all morning the day of the wedding, so we were nervous about the weather. But we wanted the ceremony to overlook the ridge so we took the chance. Luckily it paid off, with the rain stopping before the nuptials. The tent sides were up due to the rain that day and the night before, but we didn’t want them to block the gorgeous mountaintop setting. As the sun came out during the ceremony, we got to work. There were a handful of us just pulling the tent walls down as fast as we could!
There were so many notable moments from the reception! Carrie & Andrew did a choreographed dance to At Last by Etta James for their first dance and delivered it flawlessly. Being a brunch wedding, we had to have all the favs. Carrie’s love of avocado toast is unmatched and so was their build your own avocado toast bar! The dancing photos with cowboy hats from this night may be my favorite ever – DJ Craig always delivers on a good time.
This mountain wedding weekend turned out exactly how C&A wanted it – relaxed, no stress quality time with their loved ones. We expect we will see more wedding weekends in 2024, so if you’re thinking of planning one, reach out!
