Molly and Thomas’ Wool Factory wedding in Charlottesville was so special. From start to finish, their day felt intentional, intimate, and grounded in meaning. It was a celebration that prioritized connection, incredible food, and the people they love most.
Their wedding began with a Catholic ceremony at the UVA Chapel, followed by an evening reception at The Wool Factory, creating a day that felt both timeless and refreshingly personal.
Molly and Thomas were married in an 11:30am ceremony at the UVA Chapel (which makes sense because Thomas went to UVA). Because it was Homecoming weekend, we had to navigate a bit of extra traffic and campus logistics that morning, but everything went smoothly getting ready and heading out for the ceremony.
One of my favorite parts of this day was how intentionally they embraced the longer timeline. With the reception not beginning until 5pm, Molly and Thomas didn’t rush from moment to moment. After the ceremony, they changed into comfy clothes, enjoyed lunch together with their wedding party, and truly soaked in the experience before transitioning into their reception attire and taking a few more photos before cocktail hour.
A bridesmaid even took a nap outside on the lounge furniture while we set up for the evening. . . The vibe was definitely a relaxed one!
The exposed brick, large windows, and beautiful natural light create an atmosphere that feels elevated yet inviting. The outdoor space is perfect for cocktail hour. The bistro lights strung overhead instantly set the tone as the sun goes down.
It’s a venue that lends itself beautifully to gatherings that feel more like an intimate dinner party than a formal production, which was exactly what Molly and Thomas wanted.
When Molly and Thomas shared their priorities for the day, one thing was very clear: they wanted guests to remember the love they felt and the fun they had. We brought that vision to life with a family-style dinner featuring four courses, encouraging conversation and connection at every table. Candlelight filled the space, the music stayed moody and warm, and the entire reception felt relaxed and intentional.
The Wool Factory boasts high-quality in-house catering and it shows. We’ve worked with their renowned chef many times, and the food never disappoints!
During cocktail hour, guests were welcomed with a wine tasting table featuring wines from both New York and Virginia. This was a thoughtful nod to the couple’s two home locations.
Molly wore her grandmother’s wedding dress for the ceremony which her mother also wore on her own wedding day. It was such a beautiful way to honor generations of family history. For the reception, Molly changed into a second dress, complete with a statement bow that perfectly echoed the bow Anita created on their wedding cake.
One of my favorite design details came from leaning into the venue’s history. Since The Wool Factory was once a working mill, wooden spools were incorporated throughout the design. They were used as the escort cards, table numbers, and even weaving the motif into guest coasters, matchbooks, and menus. It was a small but meaningful way to connect the space to the celebration.
