I'm Mallory, a wedding planner based in Charlottesville, Virginia. Traveling throughout Richmond, Northern Virginia and Washington D.C. With a passion for weddings and an eye for details, I help create a personalized and seamless experience for you and your guests.
Have you heard the phrase “Exactly Like Nothing Else”? If not, perhaps you are not too familiar with one of Washington, D.C.’s historic hotels, The Mayflower. Lovingly referred to as D.C.’s “Second Best Address”, this luxury hotel is the longest continuously operating hotel in the D.C. area, opening back in 1925. A venue known for the most elegant and classic affairs, The Mayflower is one of our top wedding venue picks in the DMV. The venue includes multiple ballrooms with soaring ceilings, delicate gold details and historic charm. From the luxurious backdrops to the attentive and seamless staff service, it is the perfect place for couples to host their most special moments.
Looking to be a couple that is “Married at The Mayflower”, well we’ve pulled together a list of some of our favorite photo spots in and around The Mayflower Hotel.
Cue the string quartet! The Palm Court Ballroom is easily one of our favorite ceremony locations throughout the entire venue. The chandelier alone is a huge WOW factor for couples. It’s the perfect place to say your “I Do’s”.
The most asked about photo location by our couples getting married at The Mayflower has to be: The Balcony! Unfortunately, there is only one balcony in the entire hotel. Count your lucky stars if you are a couple that snags this gorgeous luxury suite. The balcony is a great location to gather with your bridal party or even share you first look (parents, wedding party or future spouse).
Future couples please keep in mind that The Mayflower is an operating hotel and open to the public, but that shouldn’t deter you from using the public areas. Head out to the lobby and look to their Promenade or take a step outside the main doors onto Connecticut Street. If you are in Washington, D.C. you have to get those real life city shots!
If you haven’t had the chance to walk into The Mayflower’s Grand Ballroom yet we urge you to go now. Seriously, the photos just do not do it justice. The architecture in this room is absolutely breathtaking. Always add the uplighting. It’s a great way to customize the space to your aesthetic and highlighting the details on the columns throughout the space. Our couple’s favorite part? It’s the balcony, but of course! A perfect spot for your newlywed introduction as you greet your guests heading into the reception.
To say The Grand Foyer at The Mayflower Hotel is iconic would be an understatement. A fabulous area to grab those post ceremony portraits as newlyweds. The foyer is spacious too! We love gathering our entire wedding party here for photos as well.
