Meagan + Ben’s Charlottesville wedding was as picturesque as it gets. From their gorgeous venue to all of the sustainable wedding details, we are so honored to have been a part of it all.
Meagan + Ben’s love story with us at All The Dainty Details started a year and a half before their big day. This gave us plenty of time to make sure everything was exactly how they wanted it. We even had the pleasure of planning and coordinating their rehearsal dinner and welcome party. It was truly a beautiful weekend!
Having a sustainable wedding was very important to Meagan + Ben. This meant going as eco-friendly and local as possible with the decor, vendors, and other details throughout the weekend. We went with a pescatarian menu with minimal food waste, and local flowers from Willow Branch with flower donations. We also prioritized minimizing general waste with no single-use plastics, composting, and using recycled/biodegradable paper products. Seed paper was used for the place cards, and that paper can be planted – how cool is that? We even got some blankets the week of (since it was on the chiller side for our outdoor ceremony) and those were donated to an animal shelter post wedding. There are so many ways you can have the wedding day of your dreams while being as eco-friendly as possible.
There are so many things we love about this Charlottesville wedding venue that we’ve raved about before, and it never gets old having events there.
Ben is Jewish and Meagan is half Jewish/half Episcopalian, and they both had traditions represented during their wedding day. The bride’s mom’s cousin, who is an ordained Episcopal priest, co-officiated with our Rabbi. He married her parents 34 years ago, which makes it even more special! They also had several Jewish traditions incorporated into the ceremony and reception, such as a Huppah, breaking of the glass, signing the Ketubah, and dancing the Hora. They also had Halal bread baked by our local Albemarle Baking Company for all of the guest bread baskets. Traditions like these are a great way to personalize your day.
We only had one major pivot on Meagan + Ben’s wedding day, and it was due to weather. It was a little colder than we were hoping and very windy. The plan was to have a golf cart take the newlyweds half a mile down the road to the farmhouse cottage where they were staying at the end of the night. Since it was a colder night, I offered to drive them down myself. So often I am able to say things go smoothly, and it’s really only weather related things that end up changing the dynamic of the day. If only I could control the weather!!
Meagan + Ben, you are incredibly kind and thoughtful, and it was an absolute joy to be a part of this journey with you. Here’s to more sustainable weddings with the best couples ever!
