I'm Mallory, a wedding planner based in Charlottesville, Virginia. Traveling throughout Richmond, Northern Virginia and Washington D.C. With a passion for weddings and an eye for details, I help create a personalized and seamless experience for you and your guests.
Before their artisan and luxury wedding in DC, Lex & Tim met in Ann Arbor in the autumn of 2020. Lex was a senior at the University of Michigan and Tim had returned to his hometown to work remotely during the pandemic. After their first date, they knew they both struck gold! Nearly four years later, they had their dream wedding in our nation’s capital.
I worked closely with the mother of the bride, Heather, for over a year. I loved hearing her out of the box ideas. We had this partnership where she was all creativity and I would be the anchor to center her thoughts and help map it all out. We had a huge vendor team, plus bringing in a whole storage unit of artwork to set-up, so logistically it was a lot for me and my team. This was probably my longest wedding day ever (over 21k steps!) but it was all worth it!
Lex & Tim’s ceremony was at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle and their reception was at The Mayflower Hotel. The two are a couple short blocks away from one another, which we were excited for. We ended up doing a Chinese lion dance from the church into the Mayflower to kick off cocktail hour.
She is a professional artist who truly poured her talents and love into making her daughter and son-in-law’s day so personal, intentional, and, as Heather put it, “love soaked.”
Everything that could be a work of art, was. From the handmade flower sculptures (over 100 of them!) to the giclee print invitations, the focus was kept on representing the couple’s love and individual story through unique, bespoke, and artisan influences.
Whether you were taking in the gorgeous wedding reception decorations, the wedding party and guests donned in black and mothers of the bride and groom in gold, or the Chinese traditions woven throughout, this luxury wedding delivered in every way! Including wrapping up with late night cotton candy for the dance floor and 1am Taco Bell as the guests left. What more could you want?
My wedding anniversary is one day off from Lex & Tim’s, which made us feel an extra connection from the start, but being a part of this wonderful day for them is a connection I’ll always cherish. Congratulations Lex & Tim!
