Having a Charlottesville wedding just made sense to UVA alum Jenna. Even though Jenna & Ryan live in New York, we worked together to make sure their wedding at The Wool Factory was everything they wanted and more.
Jenna & Ryan loved the industrial vibe, it hit the edgy and chic notes just right. Guests were saying it felt like a New York gallery opening, which was perfect for what the couple was going for. This Charlottesville wedding venue also does all the catering and the food is beyond amazing! We did family style, which created that fun dinner party vibe Jenna & Ryan wanted.
Jenna & Ryan hired me for partial planning which includes design. Jenna has great attention to detail so I knew we would get along very well. I loved all her ideas! Our biggest obstacle was going to be taking such an industrial space and adding some softness and color to elevate it and bring it to life.
Our focus was the modern city with feminine touches. We wanted to create a tablescape that highlighted color and texture, playing with heights in a more modern floral design. We aimed for elevated elegance and I loved the pattern play with the plates and linens. The asymmetrical floral arch for their ceremony was also an absolute dream – which we used as a photo op post ceremony.
Another great reason to choose The Wool Factory as your wedding venue became apparent when tropical storm Ophelia hit. We had planned to do the ceremony inside, but this meant we needed to utilize the same space for cocktail hour immediately after instead of having guests move outside. The Wool Factory team was very efficient at getting chairs moved out of the way and into the reception space. J&R were great sports about the rain and that’s why you choose a venue with a great indoor option too!
J&R added a lot of New York flair to their wedding in little ways throughout the event. Their guestbook was a New York City coffee table book. I loved the custom matchbooks that we set around the lounge areas and bar in cool deco glass bowls. Then, at the end of the night, we set up a table of cheap, gas-station type snacks for guests to grab as they get back on the bus. There were also as well as black and white cookies as a nod to their home in New York City. The perfect end to the perfect night!
